Our Story
The Ivy & Pearl Foundation, Inc., established in April 2025, is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization created to strengthen families and uplift underserved communities. Formed in partnership with the Rho Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, the Foundation delivers programs that address social, educational, economic, and health needs.
Guided by a clear mission and vision, we empower individuals by providing access to vital resources and community-based support. Our work is carried out through dedicated volunteers and strategic partnerships, all committed to creating thriving and equitable communities.

CHAIRMAN
Patricia Hollis McGruder, Esq. leads the Ivy & Pearl Foundation, Inc. with a heart for service and a lifelong commitment to strengthening communities. As an attorney, arbitrator, mediator, and educator, she has spent her career helping people find resolution, empowerment, and voice. Patricia brings compassion, wisdom, and a steady guiding hand to the Foundation, ensuring that every initiative reflects our mission of uplifting families and creating pathways to opportunity.

Dr. Shauntā L. Singer
BOARD MEMBER
Shauntā L. Singer, PhD, is deeply committed to education and community empowerment. A Senior Research Scientist for a national organization, she brings more than two decades of experience across K–12, higher education, and nonprofit sectors, where she has dedicated her career to advancing inclusive innovation and expanding access to learning opportunities. As President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Rho Phi Omega Chapter, Dr. Singer leads with compassion, vision, and strategic purpose. Through her leadership, she helps ensure the Foundation’s initiatives remain rooted in service, responsive to community needs, and focused on meaningful, measurable impact.

Dr. Yava Jones-Hall
TREASURER
Yava Jones-Hall, DVM, PhD, DACVP, is passionate about service, stewardship, and excellence. A respected researcher and educator, she serves as an associate professor and director of a university laboratory at Texas A&M University, where she is known for her dedication to precision, integrity, and leadership. Drawing on years of experience as treasurer for multiple chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® and university organizations, she provides thoughtful financial oversight and responsible management. Her commitment to accountability and sustainability helps ensure that the Foundation’s resources are used wisely to support lasting community impact.

SECRETARY
Tonya Driver Jackson, PhD, has dedicated decades to advancing student success, career decision-making, and leadership development through her work at Texas A&M University and her independent consulting practice. As a department head, executive coach, and master practitioner, she provides strategic guidance and developmental support that strengthen both people and systems. Her work centers on building capacity, elevating performance, and empowering others to thrive. Dr. Driver brings thoughtful leadership and a deep commitment to measurable community impact, ensuring the Foundation’s work remains clear, connected, and community-focused.

Tammie Preston-Phillips, PhD, is deeply committed to helping people grow, learn, and thrive. A longtime educator and professor at Texas A&M University, she has dedicated her career to developing leaders and creating environments where individuals feel supported and inspired. As Treasurer, she brings both financial stewardship and a genuine passion for community well- being, ensuring that every resource entrusted to the Foundation is used to make a meaningful
